Catalog description

This course examines the success of the parasitic lifestyle by studying the various aspects of a host-parasite rela- tionship. Topics include form and function, life cycles and adaptations to increase transmission, symptoms and causes of pathology, and mech- anisms permitting the evasion of the host immune system. The course ends with an introduction to the ecological descriptors of parasite com- munities. Both medically and non-medically important parasites will be discussed.
