MASSAGE FOR SPECIAL POPULATIONS AND LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

Catalog description

In this course the student will develop the methods, techniques, and modalities of clinical massage to treat all types of conditions and diseases in people of special populations. These are applied in clients who present some physical condition that limits their abilities and require massage therapy. In addition, it covers the anatomy related to the lymphatic system and the main theories that support the lymphatic fields. Emphasis is placed on the development of knowledge, skills, and competencies of pathology and contraindications, areas of caution with special populations and physiological effects of techniques that manipula te soft tissues and body biomechanics. These skills are developed through demonstrations and practical exercises that allow the student to execute the different techniques adapted to clients with special needs, learn the main conditions and diseases that a ffect the lymphatic system, and apply manipulation protocols to follow in lymphatic drainage. In addition, it facilitates the development of critical thinking, communication, ethics and diversity skills.
