Catalog description
Study of the stimulus of points on the feet, hands, nose or ears through pressure made to achieve an energetic connection with glands, organs, systems and other parts of the body. It includes the discussion of the techniques used in SPAs and how they are used to treat diseases allowing health to be restored to the circulatory, nervous, and body systems. Emphasis is placed on the developme nt of knowledge, skills, and abilities in anatomy and physiology, evaluation of the client, benefits and physiological effects of techniques that manipulate soft tissue and body biomechanics. These competencies are developed through demonstrations and practical exercises that allow students to apply relaxation massage techniques and therapies to combat stress. It also allows the development of critical thinking, communication, ethics and diversity skills.
