Catalog description

Study and practice of basic statistical techniques used in research. Descriptive and inferential statistics are emphasized for parametric and nonparametric tests based on quantitative reasoning. The fundamentals of statistics, measures of central tendency and dispersion, correlation and regression, normal distribution, estimation and hypot hesis testing, sampling, analysis of variance, chi -square, and parametric tests are discussed. The course requires the use of technology and programming for statistical analysis, among other assessment techniques, which will promote the development of technological skills, decision-making and quantitative reasoning in the student. Emphasis is placed on the development of knowledge, skills and abilities for critical thinking and scientific reasoning, taking into account the diversity and culture of Puerto Rico. .
