EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION TRAINING II: FAMILY AND COMMUNITY SERVICES

Catalog description

This course offers the student the opportunity to demonstrate at a basic level their communication competencies and information skills by completing 60 hours of formal training in early care and education covering family and community services for children whose ages range from birth to 36 months. Three (3) subject areas of the Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification are emphasized. In addition, the student will complete two hundred and forty (240) hours of professional work experience in a center or program with children as appropriate according to the type of credential that will be requested. In this way the student will evidence the development of their ethics, diversity, and service - oriented skills. Finally, students will demonstrate the development of critical thinking competence, as they finish preparing their Profes sional Portfolio where they must gather a series of materials related to their work: education documentation, questionnaires from families, five (5) resources (for a total of ten (10), three (3) reflective testimonies of competence (for a total of six – (6)) and complete the professional philosophy testimony. By completing the portfolio, the student will demonstrate the development of their scientific and quantitative reasoning skills.
