Catalog description
In this first full -time clinical experience, students are placed in a specific healthcare setting, that may include in - patient or out-patient environments. Under the close supervision of a clinical instructor, students engage in patient management, developing foundational skills such as conducting patient histories, performing systems reviews, and implementing physical therapist examinations, participating in patient diagnosis and carrying out plans of care as a movement system expert. The Clinical Internship Evaluation Tool (CIET) is introduced to benchmark performance, setting a clear expectation for students to start their journey towards achieving entry -level competency, if not beyond. Emphasis is placed on legal and ethical standards, effective communication with stakeholders, and the integration of feedback and evidence into practice. Students are encouraged to actively seek constructive feedback, using the CIET to identify areas for improvement and set the stage for ongoing professional development and proficient patient interaction.
