PHILOSOPHICAL, THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS AND MODELS IN HEALTH DISPARITIES

Catalog description

This course develops a deeper knowledge related to philosophies, theories and models of health disparities and vulnerable populations. The meanings of health disparities and vulnerable populations are examined and analyzed within a historical context. Students will have the opportunity to critically examine the links between health outcomes and the economy, class, gender, sex, sexuality, race and ethnicity. In addition, to develop their own clinical and research interests based on practice in this field of nursing related to health disparities in contemporary society by identifying the population at risk of their choice. It facilitates the development of competencies related to advance knowledge for nursing science, prevention and health promotion, quality improvement and safety, advanced care for vulnerable groups and information and healthcare technology.
