Catalog description

This course examines the foundations of the social determinants of health, their conceptual framework, and dominant theories. Furthermore, it distinguishes between intermediate- and structural-level social determinants and explores the different mechanisms through which these operate. Likewise, it discusses case studies of public policies and social programs within the framework of human rights, social justice, and health equity. Finally, it presents the main strategies available to act on the social determinants of health and reduce health inequities in communities.
