Catalog description

In this course, students will develop critical thinking and quantitative reasoning skills by using fundamental concepts in dynamic system modeling and system mathematical representation and solution techniques, including the Laplace Transform, transfer function modeling, and state -space representation to analyze and compute the overall system response for a dynamic system under external loads and other inputs. By coupling t hese techniques with fundamental concepts of classical feedback control theory and scientific reasoning, the students will design control strategies to meet predefined system behavior and stability metrics. Furthermore, the students will also enhance their technological competence by using state -of-practice dynamics system modeling and control design software to implement the theory learned in class to real-world applications. MEEN 461 CONTROLS LABORATORY 1 CREDIT In this course, students will develop critical thinking, quantitative reasoning skills, and scientific reasoning by applying system modeling and control theory to the analysis of dynamic system behavior and control strategies development through lab experiments and open -ended projects. Students will work in teams using principles of ethics and diversity. Furthermore, students shall enhance their communication skills by writing technical reports and conducting oral presentations to effectively communicate the results of the laboratory experiences. Students will enhance their technological competence by using state -of-practice dynamics system modeling tools, control design software, and PLC programming software to implement the theory learned in class to real -world applications.
