Catalog description

This course prepares the student to explore the design process on an urban scale and how the landscape can be used as a tool of urbanism and infrastructure. Course intervention typologies are (Squares, Plazas, Waterfront, Promenades, Parks, Neighborhood Development, etc.). This learning experience includes topics on Tendencies in Urban Design, Urban Planning & Policy, Urban Ecology, Urban Green Areas, Urban Grey Infrastructure, Urban Green Infrastructure, Transit Oriented Development, Residential and Mixed-Use Areas, among other relevant urban topics. Stormwater management planning, resource inventory and analysis, planting design and hardscape materials selection are also approached. Projects will emphasize the principles of sustainable design solutions and applying design principles learned and assessed in LAND 101.
