Catalog description

This course leads the student to apply the knowledge acquired in previous courses to the development of a tourism/hospitality business that complies with all the characteristics, regulations and certification standards of a sustainable operation. The first phase of the project will include visits to local or international destinations to benchmark sustainable business and evaluate applicable best practices. This co urse will give special attention to moral and professional ethics, global and local innovation, scientific reasoning and research methodology. The second phase will be the actual development of a business plan for a tourism/hospitality enterprise with the presentation to a financing entity, engaging students in acquiring persuasive communication skills and strong quantitative reasoning. Course evaluations is based on project financial approval. Student will learn technological skills with the use of the Internet as a research tool, e -mail and Blackboard as means of communication, and MS Word and PowerPoint for projects and presentations.
