Catalog description

Philosophical and empirical analysis of physical education and its effectiveness as a profession of social impact. Evaluation of it professional paradigms, organizational structures, empirical foundations and its effectiveness to promote healthy and active lifestyles as well as to improve research in physical education. Emphasis in applying intellectual competencies in the context of physical education such as critical thinking, communication, the use of technology, literacy information skills, ethic and human diversity, scientific thinking, and innovation. FOPE 801 HISTORICAL AND EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS OF SCHOOL AND HIGHER EDUCATION PHYSICAL EDUCATION 3 CREDITS A historic evaluation related to the origin and evolution of scientific research in physical education. The historical review of research focuses on published documents, theses and dissertation related to the development of physical education to identify the different philosophical and research trends on physical education in Puerto Rico. Emphasis on academic skills related to critical thinking, communication, information literacy, ethic and diversity, scientific reasoning, and innovation as they are used in the context of scientific research in physical education.
