Catalog description

This course focuses on the emerging role of biotechnology in humans and the global environment. Basic concepts in genetic engineering are introduced in a relatively non-technical way as a foundation for studying the implications of biotechnology in agriculture, food, medicine, industry, and ecology. Also concepts from microbiology, microbiology ecology, and environmental chemistry will be introduced and synthesized to provide an understanding of bioremediation and other areas of environmental biotechnology.
