EETE 230
COMMUNICATIONS ELECTRONICS
Ana G. Mendez University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course teaches the fundamentals of electronic communication systems. It focusses a discussion of AM, FM, single side band and digital communications principles, oscillators, tuning circuits, detectors, radio frequency amplifiers, transmission lines and antennas. This course will be based on demonstrations, lecture and interpretation of schematics, case analysis and laboratory practice and responsible use of technology. EETE 230L LAB COMMUNICATIONS ELECTRONICS 1 CREDIT This laboratory teaches and trains the student, at a higher level and synthesis: development, design, simulation, implementation, testing and validation of measurements, troubleshooting for analog communication systems, AM, FM circuit devices and digital communication devices. These types of circuits are not only discussed at the individual device level, but also at the system level, enable the student to comprehend devices individually as well as a system. They use common circuits learned in analog electronics and communication electronics courses, enriching the discussion of concepts and formulations brought in class. Specific instrumentation equipment is applied for communication circuits such as: power meter, network analyzer, spectrum analyzer and digital oscilloscope for the collection of relevant parameters and measurements discussed and practiced in class.
