METHODOLOGY FOR TEACHING AUTISTICS STUDENTS

Catalog description

This course is aimed at understanding concepts of methodology and academic curriculum as the basis of an instructional and educational design based on the strengths and needs of students presenting autism spectrum disorder. It presents the characteristics that describe the student with autism spectrum to emphasize the importance of adapting the appraisal proc edures and being able to meet their needs. The theoretical bases will be discussed, as well as the philosophical and different curricular alternatives and skills that will enable them to integrate academic goals into the curriculum in accordance with the e stablished requirements. Educational programs will be evaluated, as well as existing approaches to positively intervene with learning processes in this population. The processes of integration, inclusion, transition, and independent living, among others, w ill be discussed.
