Catalog description

Descriptions of common surgical diseases of equids and ruminants, including historical and clinical signs, will be discussed to help establish a problem list and pertinent differential diagnoses. The rationale for selection of diagnostic tests, interpretation of diagnostic tests, therapy selection, and assessment of response to therapy will be emphasized throughout case discussion. Specific attenti on will be geared towards medical vs. surgical vs. non - treatment in relation to prognosis, return to health and/or function based on pathophysiology of condition. Development of knowledge and skills in this course should aid the entry -level veterinarian in the accurate and efficient diagnosis and/or treatment of common and un-common surgical conditions of large animal species.
