INTRODUCTION TO DIAGNOSTIC SCIENCES

Catalog description

This course provides the student with the fundamental concepts necessary for a thorough patient interview, including an effective medical and dental history review. The course also prepares the student for conducting patient physical assessments and optimizing communication with the patient and/or parent or caregiver. Students learn to recognize deviations from normal and identify common oral diseases. Concepts learned from the biomedical science courses are integrated and applied to increase students' understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms involved.
