Catalog description
This course provides the student with the foundation required for understanding orofacial pain. Critical patient assessment and the capacity to interpret common orofacial pain exacerbations are essential for developing an asserted plan for treatment. The course deepens the knowledge of the pathophysiology, receptors, chemical mediators, and neuromodulation of pain, a s well as the components of anxiety, its signs and symptoms, its levels, and its impact at the systemic level. Establishing differential diagnoses for orofacial pain conditions and considering evidence-based treatment approaches are necessary goals for the student to manage patients with orofacial pain effectively.
