Catalog description

The Pathology course provides a general understanding of the principles and basics of human pathology, its mechanisms, and anomalies in the different organ systems, emphasizing those associated with the orofacial complex. The course builds upon the previously acquired knowledge of the biochemical and functional mechanisms of the human body, adding a pathologica l perspective to anomalies in these processes. Among its thematic distribution, the course defines the etiology, pathogenesis, lesions, and clinical manifestations of human pathologies and the mechanisms involved in degenerative, metabolic, and neoplastic lesions. The Pathology course has been segmented into two sections: General and systemic pathology. The first section provides the required general concepts of defining a pathology, its etiology, and functional or morphological changes associated with the disease. The second section will expand on the interrelations of systemic pathologies while leading students to enforce critical thinking to derive evidence-based conclusions.
