GROSS AND HEAD AND NECK ANATOMY

Catalog description

The Gross and Head and Neck Anatomy course is designed to teach the concepts concerning anatomical structures within the human body, emphasizing the head and neck due to their relevance to the DMD Program. The course is divided into three main topics: head and neck, upper limb and thorax, and abdominopelvic region. Musculoskeletal structures, viscera, innervation, and irrigation are dis cussed for each topic. The central and peripheral nervous systems are discussed with a special focus on peripheral nerves and neural pathways associated with pain sensation in the facial and oral areas. The basic anatomical concepts learned through each topic will be applied and reinforced by discussing clinical cases, interpreting, and analyzing X-ray radiographies, CT, and MRI, and integrating biomedical concepts into the learning experience. This course is instructed via theoretical lectures and a virtua l laboratory experience where three-dimensional cadaveric specimen dissections are performed using Anatomage Table®.
