Catalog description

In this course the student acquires theoretical knowledge in personal computers, their components and auxiliary systems. An introduction to each component is provided and its functionalities and weaknesses are discussed. The personal computer is presented as a group of electronic devices united and all dissected from its individuality and internal integrity. The areas of software that are part of a personal computer are also covered. The role of each component that supports an application and the functional goals of the user are analyzed. Technological and design competencies will be developed that are required for professionals using this technology. CTEC 220L LABORATORY OF FUNDAMENTALS OF COMPUTERS, PERIPHERALS AND OPERATING SYSTEMS 1 CREDIT This laboratory course provides the student with theoretical concepts and practical skills in the use of personal and peripheral computers. The concepts of "motherboard", input and output ports, power supply, update, preventive maintenance, among others, are analyzed. The topics are directed to the principles of operation, selection and specifications of personal computers and auxiliary systems. Also, this course prepares the student to take the "A +" personal computer certification exam. Competencies in sc ientific reasoning will be developed that are required for professionals using personal computers.
