Catalog description

This upper-level course provides a comprehensive study of biology, morphology, life cycles, and clinical relevance of parasites that affect humans and other mammals. Topics include protozoa, trematodes (flukes), cestodes (tapeworms), nematodes (roundworms), and arthropod vectors. The course emphasizes parasitic patholog y, symptomatology, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment strategies, with special attention to human health implications and public health concerns. The laboratory component includes microscopic identification, life cycle analysis, and morphological illustr ation of parasites. The course consists of 45 hours of lecture s and 45 hours of laboratory.
