Catalog description

In this course students will learn about issues and best practices related to working in partnership with families of children with disabilities. Family-systems theory and a family-centered approach will be examined. Strategies for effective communication and information sharing will be provided. Course will examine effective communication programs linking schools, parents, and community with resources before, during, and after transitioning out of school. Relevant current research-based evidence pertaining to these topics will be reviewed and discussed.
