Catalog description

This course explores the literacy needs of students with a range of exceptionalities. Research-based strategies for explicit literacy instruction are examined, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS). Educators apply diagnostic assessments, progress monitoring tools, and frameworks for tiered literacy interventions. Assistive technology and accommodations to facilitate equitable participation are addressed. The course culminates in the development of comprehensive plans that leverage stakeholder collaboration to create cohesive, individualized literacy support.
