Blockchain is a game-changing technology that has posed legal challenges across national security disciplines, from illicit finance, to terrorism, to cybersecurity. This course will use blockchain technology as the backdrop to examine the intersection of U.S. national security legal frameworks and topic areas like data governance, law enforcement investigations and prosecution, intelligence gathering, and anti-money laundering. The expected outcome for students is to learn more about this cutting-edge area of technology while providing an opportunity to think critically about the balance between individual privacy and U.S. national security interests.
