Environmental Health (3) This course examines how environmental exposures influence health at the individual, community, national, and global levels. Students explore a range of environmental health topics, including toxic substances, air and water pollution, the built environment, indigenous and low- and middle-income country issues, and climate change and disasters. Students gain proficiency in foundational concepts and skills in toxicology, exposure science, and environmental epidemiology, and examine how social determinants shape environmental health disparities across the life course. Through seminal case studies and current events, students critically evaluate public health responses using systems thinking and propose policies or interventions to solve daunting environmental health challenges.
