Catalog description
Academic Writing Skills (3) Students develop and sharpen their academic writing skills. Students read texts in a variety of content areas that range across disciplines including the natural sciences, history and government, literature, psychology, and the social sciences. Students write critical and rhetorical analyses in response to the readings with a goal of writing logically reasoned arguments. Students also write a culminating argumentative research paper in the field of their intended major. Particular attention is given to the issue of academic integrity throughout the semester. As a result, students become better writers across the curriculum. Grading: A-F only. Restriction: International Accelerator Program (Undergraduate) or American Collegiate at American University (Undergraduate).
