Electronics (4) Audio amplifiers, phones, vehicles, computers, and most scientific instrumentation depend on the motion of electrons to perform the tasks for which they are designed. This course provides a solid theoretical and experimental foundation in how modern analog and digital electronic systems function as well as using this knowledge to make predictions, measurements, and custom electronic devices. Topics covered include basic circuit theorems, first-order RC and RL circuits, second-order RLC circuits, resonance, phasor representations, analog filters, semiconductor physics, PN-junction diodes, transistor amplification and switching, operational amplifiers, digital logic, and microcontrollers. This is a laboratory intensive course where power supplies, function generators, multimeters, and oscilloscopes are used by students regularly.
