Catalog description

Film and Video Production and Direction (3) This introductory course provides hands-on opportunities to learn core filmmaking skills, including story development, production planning, producing and directing, cinematography, lighting, sound recording, and editing. Through lectures, screenings, in-class demonstrations, set building and filming, and location filming, students learn to create aesthetically and technically strong productions in documentary and fiction. Students work in small teams and share responsibilities for producing, directing, crewing, and editing the assignments. Restriction: Communication: Producing Film, Television, and Video (MA), Film and Media Production (MA), Film and Media Arts (MFA), or Visual Anthropology (Graduate Certificate).
