Catalog description

Communication and Society (3) Communication affects every aspect of daily life. This course explores multifaceted forms of communication and the important role it plays in our diverse, ever-changing society. Students use communication theories and concepts to examine the effects that persuasion and rhetoric have on shaping audiences' perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors. They also investigate how media outlets, opinion leaders, and other content creators can influence social change through gatekeeping, setting agendas, and framing issues. Prerequisite/Concurrent: COMM-100.
