Catalog description

The Artist's Perspective: Digital Photography (3) This introductory course explores digital workflows and technologies in contemporary photographic practice. Through hands-on projects, students build a strong foundation of technical skills in digital capture using a DSLR, image editing in Photoshop, and creative output for both digital and physical displays. Simultaneously, they develop their visual language, including the use of light, composition, color, image manipulation, and the art of sequencing. The course also includes a survey of historic and contemporary photographic works, along with their critical discourse and conceptual approaches. These comprehensive learning experiences refine students' analytical skills and their ability to engage in critiques of photographic work. AU Core Habits of Mind: Creative-Aesthetic Inquiry. Usually Offered: fall and spring. Grading: A-F only. Note: Necessary equipment and software provided or available for checkout.
