Catalog description

This course provides students with an understanding of topics relevant to the practice of physical therapy. Topics include ethics, licensure, malpractice, practice and continuing education. Emphasis is placed on the organization of health care institutions and community health care agencies. Topics presented in lecture that meet the requirements of the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) include ethics, values and responsibilities, tests and measures, and practice management. Upon successful completion of this course the student will demonstrate competence through written examinations, demonstrate synthesis of skills developed in the classroom and clinic through artifact creation and will be eligible to progress in the Physical Therapist Assistant program.
