Catalog description

This course is designed to study the legal aspects of the medical office. Emphasis is placed on legal issues involving legal forms of consent, informed consent, Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) orders, living wills, the Red Flags Rule, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Case studies involving false claims, Medicare/Medicaid regulations and compliance issues are analyzed. Students explore job readiness through practice of resume writing and interviewing techniques.
