4 Skills Lab Hours Prerequisites: A grade of “C” or better in ASL 210 Description This course is designed to strengthen the student’s language and cultural knowledge through direct experience working alongside the local Deaf community. Students develop and apply a community-based project as a way to work with, rather than for, the community to help to strengthen the Deaf community’s presence and rapport with future working interpreters. In this way, the students develop skills to set appropriate boundaries, work as a member of a team and the ability to listen to the community members to find out what their needs might be.
