3 Lab Hours Prerequisites: BIO 103 or BIO 115 or BIO 161 and BIO 162 ; BIO 160 or BIO 241 Description This course includes the historical development of clinical classification systems and their use in healthcare documentation, statistics, research, education and financial reimbursement through the prospective payment system. The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) classification system in the inpatient setting is emphasized. Students are prepared to achieve a Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) certification. This course requires a per credit health career fee; check the tuition and fee schedule for the current rate.
