4 Lab Hours Prerequisites: BIO 151 Description (Formerly BTC-101) This course introduces students to the basic concepts and laboratory skills used in a biological reasearch setting. Laboratory skills emphasized include micropipetting, dilutions, preparing physiological solutions and spectroscopy. Students perform a variety of laboratory protocols including protein isolation and quantification, DNA isolation and purification, basic staining techniques and aseptic cell culture.
