12 Skills Lab Hours Description This course introduces students to the fundamental knowledge and hands-on skills used across masonry and allied craft trades including brick masonry, stone masonry, point cleaning and caulking (PCC), tile setting and terrazzo work. Students examine workplace safety practices, hazard recognition and proper use of hand and power tools commonly used in masonry operations. The properties and handling of masonry materials, mortars, grouts and related construction components are explored. Students also develop trade mathematics skills used to calculate layout dimensions and material quantities. Through classroom instruction and laboratory activities, students perform basic masonry assemblies, surface preparation procedures and material handling techniques while applying safe work practices and industry workmanship standards.
