Multiple Subject Math Methods

Catalog description

is designed to empower residents with the theory, principles, knowledge, and skills to effectively teach math to a diverse range of students in elementary and middle school classrooms through an understanding of state-adopted standards and equity-focused frameworks. This course focuses on examining theory, pedagogical principles, and research-based instructional practices in teaching mathematics as a means to apply and practice these skills and strategies in instructional settings. This course supports residents to explore the ways that children think about and learn mathematics utilizing a concept-based approach. Residents in the course will engage with content through core frameworks of Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Teaching, Universal Design for Learning, and Whole Child Education.
