This course delves into the national security aspects of cybersecurity and explores its role in international relations, specifically in the context of cyber warfare. Beginning with an examination of cybersecurity as an integral component of national security, we will delve into operational considerations, planning in cyber warfare, and diverse national approaches. Topics such as cyber deterrence, the military domain of cyberspace, and the impact of international institutions on cyber warfare will be explored. Students will have the opportunity to analyze cybersecurity issues related to national security affairs. By adopting an international security perspective, the course enables students to perceive cybersecurity as a facet of state power and draw insights into its application in international relations. Throughout the semester, the evolving discourse on the international dimension of cybersecurity will be discussed in tandem with current debates. Prerequisite(s): junior or senior standing.
