Catalog description
An introduction to the major philosophical traditions of South and East Asia, with a particular focus on India, China, and Japan. Students will acquire knowledge of foundational concepts, texts, and figures in traditions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Daoism, Moism, and Zen. The course will examine major issues in metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, and political philosophy. All readings in English translation.
