Catalog description

This seminar will offer students preparation to conduct comprehensive physical health assessments across the lifespan. This course expands upon the fundamentals ideas and principles related to interviewing techniques, gathering health histories, and analyzing both physical and psychosocial observations of clients. Students will develop their communication and assessment skills, as well as learn how to integrate mental and spiritual assessments in a culturally sensitive manner when evaluating health status. Throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to apply theoretical concepts in hands-on lab experiences and hands-on skills validations to ensure safety prior to implementation into practice. Prerequisite(s): H NSG 102, 212, 230, 240, 245 and 248 with a B or better and H NSG 211, A CHM 115, A PSY 101 and E PSY 224 with a C or better to register for H NSG 338. Restricted to students in Nursing B.S. AM program.
