Catalog description

This clinical rotation focuses on the scientific knowledge for nursing practice and innovation in the care of children from infancy to adolescence as the basis for clinical judgment, critical thinking, and application of the nursing process with patients, families, communities, and populations. Students will apply knowledge on health promotion, disease prevention and common chronic disease management for the unique health and developmental needs of a diversity of children and their families. The student’s role in pediatric regenerative/restorative acute care will be integrated. Physical, social, and behavioral sciences and advanced technology are applied in the diagnosing and treating of human responses in a variety of settings. Considerations for pediatric patients in hospice and palliative care will be integrated. Prerequisite(s): H NSG 102, 212, 230, 240, 245, and 248 with a B or better and H NSG 211, A CHM 115, A PSY 101 and E PSY 224 with a C or better to register for H NSG 335. Corequisite(s): H NSG 330. Restricted to students in Nursing B.S. AM program.
