Microbiology for Health Sciences with Lab

Catalog description

This course provides a foundation in microbial physiology and diversity with a focus on bacterial organisms relevant to human health and disease. Topics discussed will include eukaryotic and prokaryotic cell structure, metabolism, microbial nutrition, viral biology, genetics, control of microbial growth, isolation and identification of microbes, microbe-human interactions, and infections of the human body. This course provides an introduction to the human immune system. Prerequisite(s): restricted to Nursing B.S. 1+2+1 and Nursing B.S. AM majors and intended majors.
