Formerly A MUS 231. An in-depth study of the musical culture of Europe from the 18 th through early 20 th centuries with an emphasis on score reading. Topics include opera seria and buffa; Viennese classicism from Mozart to Beethoven; Romanticism from Schubert to Wagner and Verdi; and modernists Schoenberg, Stravinsky, and Bartok. May not be taken for credit by students with credit for A MUS 231. Prerequisite(s): A MUS 100.
