Catalog description

Explore the contribution of language and social interaction to the formation of mind, the sense of personal identity, and the nature of intimate practices in modern and non-modern cultures. Special attention is given to understanding difficulties of being and relating that have become prominent in modern societies in recent decades. Prerequisite(s): declared COM major/minor with A COM 265X, and majors must have completed a statistics/logic course (A COM 275 or A MAT 108 or A SOC 221 or R CRJ 281 or A PSY 210 or A PHI 210).
