Catalog description
An enhanced, capstone version of A CHM 227 intended for Chemistry B.A. majors intending to enter the workforce after graduation. In addition to topics covered in A CHM 227 (Quantitative Analysis Lab), which include experiments in spectroscopy, titration and gravimetric analysis using modern instrumentation, students will also learn how these techniques are commonly utilized in chemical careers from external guest speakers representing a range of industries that employ chemists. Additional career development activities may include: introduction to undergraduate research opportunities, participation in career fairs, interview and resume preparation, and field trips to local employers. One 3.5 hour lab period per week plus one-hour career development seminar/activity per week. B.S. Chemistry majors should instead take A CHM 227 and may enroll in the optional 1-credit ACHM 329 seminar to participate in these career development activities. May not be taken by students with credit for A CHM 227. Prerequisite(s) or corequisite(s): A CHM 326.
