Laboratory in Molecular Biology

Catalog description

Molecular biology techniques are instrumental to address current questions in the life sciences. Techniques covered include restriction mapping of plasmids, gene cloning, DNA agarose gel electrophoresis, PCR, DNA sequence analysis, plasmid constructions, bioinformatics, and others. This laboratory course is valuable for students pursuing graduate studies and/or a career as a laboratory technician in research, as well as in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry. This course is part of the core requirements for the BCAMB/BS program. One laboratory per week, plus additional flexible time as required. Prerequisite(s): A BIO 201 and 202, A BIO 212Y. Prerequisite(s) or corequisite(s): A BIO 365 and 425. Course fee applies. Consult the Schedule of Classes.
