Microbiology in Health and Disease

Catalog description

Course content will include a brief history of microbiology and immunology; microbial structure, metabolism, growth, and genetics. Aspects of microbiology relevant to the health care professional, including disinfection, antimicrobial drugs, epidemiology, and specific human microbial diseases will also be covered. The course includes lectures and laboratory sessions. Yields credit toward the B.A.in Biology. Does not yield credit toward the B.S. programs in Biology or Interdisciplinary Studies with a faculty-initiated concentration in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. May not be taken for credit by students with credit for A BIO 314 and A BIO 315. Prerequisite(s): A BIO 130 or 121, 131 or 120, 201, 202, A CHM 115 or 120/124 and 116 or 121/125, or permission of instructor
