Dying to Get it Right: Perspectives on Death and Dying in Health Care and Across Cultures

Catalog description

A survey on how humans care for the dying with an emphasis on contemporary debates about end-of-life care. After completing this course, learners will have a foundation on which to consider and speak about landmark events related to death and dying including hospice and palliative care, the Kübler-Ross Model or five stages of grief, the Death with Dignity Act, death doulas, and cross-cultural perspectives about terminal illness and end-of-life experiences. Prerequisite(s): A ANT 108 or A ANT 211 or permission of instructor.
