Objective Personality Evaluation ((4 Units))

Catalog description

This course will introduce you to the application of and research on objective methods of personality assessment. During the semester you will learn how to administer, score, and interpret four commonly used psychological inventories (i.e., MMPI-2, MMPI-3, NEO-PI-3, and PAI) and how to write a clear and concise psychological assessment report integrating information from a clinical interview and test data from the aforementioned inventories. We will also discuss a number of other assessment procedures (e.g., measures of psychosocial functioning). Finally, we will survey research on these inventories, emphasizing both test validity and application. The ultimate goal of this class is for the student to be able to become familiar with the interpretive process of objective measures of personality, to be knowledgeable consumers of psychological tests, and to write a comprehensive, integrative assessment report.
